Vassily Maximov



Vassily Maximov (17 (January 29) in 1844, the village Lopina near Novaya Ladoga - November 18 (December 1) 1911, St. Petersburg) - Russian artist, Wanderers, a painter, a genre painter.
Son of a peasant. He studied in St. Petersburg in icon-painting workshops (1855-1862).
In 1863, students enrolled in the Imperial Academy of Arts. Visiting her classes, was awarded in 1864 and 1865. two small silver medals for their success in drawing and painting from life and painted "sick child", gave him, in 1865 the gold medal set for distinguished themselves in the expression. Since 1872 is a member of traveling art exhibitions and is on them with his paintings depicting scenes of common people, mostly rural life.
