LI Aronov had no honor, indeed, for a long time been subjected to pressure from the politicized management as not painted portraits of leaders and propaganda stories. At a certain period of struggle against formalism and cosmopolitanism biased criticism awarded him the label of "spiteful esthete." This formulation was highly unfair, as the main factors of his work were the utmost sincerity, kindness and emotional openness. The artist himself called himself a realist, though in search of expressive means he absorbed in his work elements of many scenic areas from Impressionism to contemporary futurism.
